Sterling Hamilton

Sterling is a professional racing driver and coach. His love of racing started at a young age watching NASCAR with his grandfather. In Middle and High School he attended sports car races and raced go karts. 

After graduating High School in 2020, he completed racing school and began his career driving a Formula Mazda. In 2020, he ended the season with three wins, two 2nd place finishes, and was ranked 2nd in regional points. In 2021, Sterling raced in the Hoosier Super Tour and had two wins, three 2nd place finishes, securing him the South East Conference Championship. Later that year, he raced at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and won the Formula Mazda National Championship.

Following his Championship win, he worked with Mazda Motorsports for 2022 and 2023 driving full time in Formula Enterprise 2 and doing various MX5 events throughout. He also started instructing with Just Track It and SCCA racing schools to share his love of motorsport with others. 

Now, in 2024 he has started his own prototype endurance racing team, Dawn Motorsports, competing in the World Racing League.

  • Sterling has started a prototype endurance racing team, Dawn Motorsports, leading the team to a 3rd and 2nd pace finish in their first two events of the season.
  • At his first event of the season, Sterling made the call to pit for rain tires and drove from last to second.
  • Sterling drove from 12th to 5th in the opening laps of the Runoffs but unfortunately locked up under braking late in the race and finished 12th.
  • After qualifying 1st at Road Atlanta, Sterling Finished 2nd and 1st in the races.
  • Recieved MSF Level 1 instructor certification and instructed an SCCA driving school at Pitt Race.

  • After running 3rd and 4th all weekend at Road Atlanta, Sterling suffered mechanical difficulties in the races and finished 11th and 7th.

  • Will be racing in Formula Enterprise 2 for the 2022 race season.Will

  • Nominated for MX-5 Cup Shootout

  • Raced in the FX Class for the 2021 SCCA Runoffs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Placed 1st in Formula Mazda; 7th in FX Class
